Tomorrow is the first playtest of our new rules. That's okay, the rules are in pretty good shape, so I'm hoping it goes well.
The concept is for a simple squad based WWII game. The "great vision" is a box containing the rules, plastic soldiers, and some boards or maps that you could give to a person that has never played a wargame.
It's not a new idea, but it is still a good one. We're aiming for enough rules to make it a wargame, but not so many that it complicates the game to the point of frustration for a new player. So an SMG is an SMG, there's no diffrence between an MP40 and a PPSh here.
Hopefully later, once the core mechanics have been proven, we can expand it outward to encompass things like that.
Anyway, the big test deserved new stuff I thought. Okay fine, it's an excuse to make new stuff, I'm fine with that.
So tonight I need to finish 3 terrain boards and 3 German soldiers for tomorrow morning. And I won't be home 'till late. That sucks, but what can you do?
An AAR (After Action Report) will be put up here after the test.
