4th Weekend

Eric has been working hard on painting up some DAK and BEF (African Germans and British) troops for our game, so I thought it was only right that I go ahead and make a desert board to go with them.

So this weekend that's what I did. Four, 2' x 2' terrain boards for desert gaming. It wasn't as easy as I hoped, nor as hard as I feared, so that's good.
A desert is pretty much flat and featureless, so that's easy to model. However, it's also flat and featureless so that's bad for gaming. It also brings up the question of why would you even bother to make a terrain board of that when a cover on a table results in the same thing.
So, I set to work on a bit of research and found photos of the African desert that were not flat and featureless, and modeled the boards after those.

Also, we established the 19th as an additional game day since Dad will be here then.

And, you know, they actually painted shadows on the sand to fool opposing troops into thinking there were more people there than there were.
