This after Christmas Game Day we ran Rage Track on the new boards I built, using the new rules I wrote.
We had a previous version of the rules, but these actually worked, so that makes them better.
The cars are lined up waiting to be chosen! Eric and I rolled our cars randomly, everyone else chose the one they like the looks of the best.
Here are some of the components for the game, the car sheets and the turn sticks being most important. I had printer issues, so the sheets aren't as good as I wanted, but they sufficed and no one else seemed to be bothered by them.
Lined up at the start line! Randomly rolled starting positions.
That's #04 Dead End, #32 Death Knell, and #02 Boomble Bee in the front (Right to left)
#01 Lead Bug, #88 Monster, and #51 Gypsy Dispatch in the second row.
The race started slow, everyone was still getting a grasp on the rules, and that first corner kind of bunched everyone up, but we were soon off and running!
Lead Bug dropped some oil, forcing Dean End and Monster into careful maneuvering to avoid it. Between this and Boomble Bee dropping mines all over, it was a challenge to even drive a straight road!
Heading into the third turn. Dead End pulled off a wicked Hand Break turn to slide around the second corner and position itself perfectly.
Boomble Bee keeps the mines coming, even driving a pylon into the road once. He made it ridiculously dangerous to be behind him. Death Knell holds his lead going into the valley.
Eventually the cars made it through the mines, though Dead End had something of an issue maintaining control.
Death Knell races through the cave tunnel, Gypsy Dispatch hot on it's bumper!
Roaring around the dirt roads Gypsy Dispatch catches up to Death Knell!
Dead End and Lead Bug bring up the rear as they race through the cave!
Monster loses control on a simple turn, nearly skidding into the pond! ( An instant out of the race event) Boomble Bee has also caught up!
Death Knell has quite a lead, Gypsy Dispatch has some crazy mechanical damage that's making it unreliable. Boomble Bee has apparently discovered the gas pedal and is moving up.
Monster once again blows the turn, this time skidding into Gypsy Dispatch and taking them both over the cliff!
Despite the lead Death Knell held from the beginning, Boomble Bee crosses the finish line well ahead of the others! Car #02 Boomble Bee is the winner!
All told, the game was awesome. From my perspective, the rules and components worked flawlessly. I can't remember if we ever ran a game where both Eric and myself could be out of the room, and the others were able to run the game themselves before this.
Everyone seemed to have fun, which is the most important part. And everyone wanted to play again! It was too late to do so, but it's still an amazing accolade for the game!
