Continuing on the corridor build!
The cutting of the plastic strips for the flooring was...tiring. So I tried out a few paint-only options. For both I painted the board, then applied the drywall tape, then painted the other color, then removed the tape. Simple!
The one on the left is the tape/plastic floor. The original one. The other two are the paint only ones. The middle is a silver base coat, then tape, then black. The right one is the reverse.
The left one is good, and it's the most "traditional" for wargame terrain.
But honestly, the right one looks just as good, and it takes 1/8 the time and effort, so I went with that going forward.
The center one is nice too, but it's got a certain feel that would be better for something else other than this project.
Doors are another thing I completed. I figured I needed a few, so I made 10 of them.
They weren't that hard, but came out real nice I think.
They're their own pieces, so they can be dropped in anywhere without regard to the surrounding wall design. The doors are all the same size, so are obviously interchangeable if I wish.
I have a few extras too, in case I need a special door or something.
I also made a few of these pieces, blanks that fit in the ends of halls to make them dead ends. End caps would also be a good description. I need a few more, but they seem to work well enough.
And here's the pieces I had completed at the time. 2 rooms, four 9" halls, two 5" halls, three L corners, three T corners, two caps, three doors, 3 vents.
And here's the pieces arranged into a impromptu facility just to see how it would do.
I like it! I need more pieces, but I still like it!
I'm continuing on with the build, at least for a bit. Doing this is really only possible in the garage, so as it starts getting colder, my time to do more is growing shorter.
I hope to have enough done before then to be able to play a few games.

Again, sword guy was the only one available. |
