Five Leagues: 3

The days after the loss of Orva and Ivo were somber, each member dealing with the loss of their friends in their own way.
Sigwald spent time in exhausting training, bettering himself and his reactions. He felt that if he had been better, faster, stronger, he could have saved Orva. Though he knew in his heart it was not true.
Elman took the downtime to start a new hobby, carving small intricate trees out of wood. Specifically, carving a type of tree out of a different type of wood. Carving an Oak out of Pine, or an Ash out of Elm. This amused him. His carvings really were quite good, though.
The rest of the Party spent their time without specific purpose, spending their time carousing in the tavern, buying rounds and sharing stories of their fallen comrades.
The stories attracted a young warrior, and through some persistent petitioning, Warton had talked his way into joining the party.
Chevell remained in his bed, recovering from his wounds and considering his missing friends.
But the evil doesn't pause to give the Party time to grieve, so they once again set out into the country. It isn't long before they found what they were looking for, a group of six Brigands lurking in the shadows along the road.

Unfortunately for the outlaws, the Party spots them long before they see the Party.
Warton uses the advantage to launch an arrow into a tree. For the rest of the combat he would proceed to keep up a steady stream of lethal arrow shots into the ground, the river, the sky, and anywhere else the enemy was not found.
Possibly due to grief, possibly due to a need for vengeance, Sigwald rushed into combat with two of the Brigands. His skilled blades holding one in place, and driving the other backwards nearly into the river. But alas his passion was larger than his skill, and Sigwald was eventually felled by the two outlaws.

Brold and Alart moved along the hills on the side of the road, taking the fight to two others concealed in the trees there. Brold, after a very brief exchange, dropped a Brigand with a mace strike to the head. The thief's partner turned and fled without even a backward glance. Brold and Alart continued through the trees, and came to the main road just in time to flank the two Brigands coming across the bridge. A single blow from Brold ended one of them before they could even register a look of surprise. As before, her partner took off running.
On the main road, Elman had been battling the Brigand that laid low Sigwald. Finally he landed a killing blow, and once more the man's partner fled the field with the utmost haste.
Obviously these Brigands held self preservation in much higher regard than they did loyalty.

With the sounds of the fleeing Brigands diminishing in the distance, Elman and Alart searched the fallen outlaws while Warton stood watch, such as he was able.
The Brigands were, apparently, very successful up until now. The three dead outlaws had 15 Gold Pieces and an expensive bottle of whisky on them. One wonders what those that fled might be carrying.
Brold helped Sigwald to his feet with one hand, and examined the big warriors split helmet with the other.
"These are not the most robust of pieces, but they do their job admirably." The dwarf said.
"Aye, and between the two of us we will keep the smiths of Faygrove well off indeed!" Sigwald grunted as he got to his feet.
Back in town the Party learned that these Brigands had a Bounty on their heads as well. So while this act had little impact on the injustice at large, it would seem that at least someone would be glad these specific individuals were no more.
