Detective Cabrodine Jack is a cop with a tragic past, a ladies man, and cool as an arctic cucumber.
Episode One:after the commercials.
Detectives Kracker and Jack are making their way across town to find a guy named Micky Paterson, hoping that he'll have information they need for their case.
Suddenly they get a call on the radio directing them to the market on Hanover street to investigate a murder scene.
"Awww, man. You think it..."
"The victim is identified as one Michael Patterson" the radio crackles.
"'Course it is. 'Course it is. Couldn't be nobody else."
Arriving on site, the scene is one of considerable chaos. Patrolmen have managed to hold back the crowds, but they can't disperse them, and there are a lot of people hanging around. That's great for the detectives, it means there's a good chance people saw something. The killer may even still be around in one of those crowds.
Cabrodine steps up and checks with the crowd right near the car, but those people are all late comers just for the spectacle, none of them saw anything. Leaving them, the two detectives make their way into the crowded parking lot. The people in this crowd aren't any more helpful, and their screaming questions at officers and pushing to see the scene is actually quite distracting.
Pushing through the crowd Steve walks into the equally crowded market area to question the people there.
"Move it, man! Police coming through! C'mon, get out of the way!"
While Cabrodine tries to get the crowds attention and tell them to disperse. His words are swallowed by the ruckus from the crowd, so other than annoying Cabrodine, they have no effect.
Steve's investigation of the crowd is just as successful, no one saw anything apparently.
Waving disgustedly at the crowd, Cabrodine moves over to yet another crowd of people to check them out. Driven by the press of bodies, the screaming of the crowd nearby, or the pressure of the approaching detective, a man wielding a knife suddenly lunges out of the people, slashing at the detective! Cabrodine manages to sidestep the blade and avoid being gutted by the psycho.
Steve, already walking to join his partners, sees the knife and shifts into a run. Just as Cabrodine dodges the knife Steve reaches the man, fist first. Landing a solid right hook squarely on the attackers face, dropping him unconscious to the pavement.
(The rules count this as a Lethal Attack. Seems odd at first, but it makes a lot of sense in the context of the rules. Still this means that suspect is considered "dead" for the purpose of interrogation back at the station.)
After handing the perp over to the patrolman at the scene, the detectives move to check out the final group of people gawking from the other side of the street. This time Steve approached first, and this time the freaked out knife using psycho sprung on him! Cabrodine started running and yelling, the crowd suddenly turns and scatters in the face of the bladed madman and screaming cop.
The suspect swung his blade at Steve, and cut a gash across the stomach of his shirt, just barely missing the man himself.
Cabrodine charged up and brought down the fool with a flying tackle. He cuffs the criminal and hands him off to the patrolman there.
The crowds checked out, the detectives head back to investigate the scene of the murder. Steve steps up to try and get the unruly and loud crowd to disperse, but is no more successful than Cabrodine was earlier.
Checking out the area where the body fell, Detective Jack discovers an overlooked piece of Physical Evidence, a small plastic baggie used for illicit substances. This one bears a "brand mark". Detective Kracker, due in large part to the patrol officers expert securing of the scene, discovers a clue in the form of a bloody sandwich wrapper fragment, giving them a Place to look.
With the person they wanted to see being dead, this is now their only lead in the case.
Mission outcome: Success. Apprehended two suspects, gained 1 Place and 1 Physical Evidence.
Station Actions:
Steve questioned the awake suspect, and Cabrodine tried to Intimidate him. Either he didn't know anything, or just wasn't saying anything. Nothing was learned from him.
