Black Ops: Mission 1

A couple of years ago, I got the Black Ops rules for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to even try them until recently, but I have read them, and about them, and they seemed pretty good. Turns out, they really are! I'm impressed, and I really like how the game works. There are other reviews on the web, so there's no need for me to do that here. The game is played with standard playing cards drawn for activation, so I'm presenting this in a Card-by-Card fashion, because I am. I may chose to do something more narrative next time, but this gives a pretty good feel for the flow of the game I think. Jacks are the regular riflemen, Kings are the "heavies" like a sniper, Aces are the leaders, and Jokers allow the leader to act again, or order another guy within 6". Shuttle Craft, and a ship

Zhu Zhu pets, those of you with some form of little one around have probably heard of them. If not, they are basically robots that look like guinea pigs. They move around making cute noises and such. They also have an expansion line, the Kung-Zhu. These are the same things, but with martial bent. Important to us gamers is the Armor avaliable to them. Better for us is they aren't very popular, so that means sales and clerance. They have an excellent shape, and are easily converted into a 28mm shuttle with minimal work. Sticking them back-to-back would make a good base for a larger ship, or simply building off of the armor would be easy too. I saw this one in CVS for $10, which is absurd. I then found it at Target on clerance for $1.97, a much better price. I bought it, brought it home, filled in the gaps with plastic card, added bits from the bit box, prime paint and seal. Boasting Cat

The Boasting Cat A little while ago (years and years really, but just a bit ago in my mind) I started a game of Five Parsecs From Home. Built my crew, played two games and three campaign turns, and I had a great time with it. (and I'll get back to it soon, I really will!) At that time, i decided I needed a physical model for their ship, the Boasting Cat . In case they needed to defend it, or got boarded, or just to be a terrain piece objective, whatever. I was also vaguely planning on a smaller version I could use in space scale games, so based it loosely on a small toy I had. That didn't work out, but eh, we try stuff. Apparently, I didn't take any construction shots, though I swear I did. It had to be big enough to play in, not just around, and since the rules suggested a 24"x24" area for the table I used that for the ship too.
