Like most others I assume, the last few months have been strange, and time seems to be racing past me. Plus, it's summer here, and when that happens I need to turn more attention to actual grown-up things (the hell you say!), like the yard, deck, garage, and so on.
Still, I am not completely game idle! It just feels like that.
So here's some stuff I did manage to accomplish recently.
Working from home means lots of meetings. Meets are, at the best of times, marginally useful. When everyone is home then meetings become "managers justifying their existence", so paying rapt attention isn't really required.
What to do? Take the Skype meeting from your painting desk of course.
These guys I finished in a week of absolutely endless meetings. So while the meetings were a waste of time, I did actually manage to accomplish something useful during that time.
This is the second weeks figures, I neglected to take a picture of the first week.
There's no cohesion here, it's just what I felt like painting, mostly to clear figures off the desk. We've got modern thugs, soldiers, ACW, Ladies, monsters, pulp adventurers, pirates, superheroes, and even a well terrain piece!
Not as many meetings the next week, so it's just some ACW, a couple random villager figures, a genie, and a truly magnificent sculpt of the cyclops from "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad".
I've had that figure for a looooong time, but never dared to do anything with it. I didn't feel my skills were up to doing it justice, still don't, but I finally decided to try. I am pretty proud of it, I think it came out really well.
For our wedding anniversary I built my Wife an Outhouse! It's actually a well head cover. She's always really like outhouses, and she actually asked for one of these around when we moved in. (that would be like 15-20 years ago. It was on the list....)
It's made from Cedar, and is actually 1/6 scale if you want to game with it. Lots of miniatures terrain techniques apply to things like this. The siding, for example, is actually solid. The "boards" are simply scored into the wood to create the planking illusion.
This is the phone screenshot photo of the mini in the picture up there. It's really nice up close like that! No lights used here.
I haven't used the camera in a game yet, but I did use it to get a peak at the Doves that were nesting in my gutters. It takes a nice picture!
The Doves have since moved on, and never did block the downspout.

For Father's Day I was given this really cool camera, specifically for use with miniatures! That's love right there.
It's really for pipes and small spaces, but I don't get hung up on what things are "actually for". It has LEDs on the camera end, and a crazy long cord (I can't remember how long) with a wire in it to hold it's shape. It connects to an APP on your phone or PC via wifi so you can use the screen from those. It has a very cool rotate feature in the software which eliminates the headache of trying to orient the camera correctly when in use.
